AFP is the Association of Finance Professionals, to which Cambridge Mercantile is a member, along with thousands of other treasury and finance professionals. This year’s annual conference was in Boston and was held from November 6th – 9th.
The goal was to allow the practitioners to get together and share their knowledge of the industry and its products pertaining to risk management, treasury operations and financial planning, to name a few.
This is Cambridge’s second year hosting a booth at AFP. The conference itself gets larger every year; for example last year there were just over 6,000 individuals who attended, and this year there were well over 7,500 who were representing thousands of companies. Our particular booth received hundreds of prospects, and we managed to have many pertinent business-related interactions with industry professionals and potential clients. This is also one of the ways that we will distinguish our success at the event.
A great deal of practitioners also left the booth with Cambridge-branded merchandise, such as cloth bags, water bottles, and neck-pillows, in addition to other printed paraphernalia, such as our mailing of pre-conference postcards.
We were able to attract a great deal of traffic by offering things such as free massages; we had a team of two massage therapists with their fold-out chairs for the duration of the four days. Cambridge’s theme this year was based on the concept of “Relax”, so the neck pillows and massages supported that. Our focus had been on getting people to come listen about Cambridge’s products and services, or listen to discussions about risk management services, to name a few. Throughout the length of the conference, we demoed a video highlighting Cambridge Online, giving us the opportunity to show prospects how the platform would add value to their process. This especially allowed us to showcase some of the major features of the system, such as the Parent-Child functionality.
Overall the AFP conference was a huge success for Cambridge this year, and we look forward to seeing everybody in Miami next year. In addition, we’d like to congratulate our grand winner, Amanda Schmidt of The Mosaic Company in Plymouth, Minnesota, who has won a trip for two to the Boulders Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona.

In September 2011, Cambridge Mercantile Group moved the Global Headquarters to a newly acquired and prestigious location in Toronto. The Union Building at 212 King Street West is a Heritage Building, rich with influential Toronto history since 1908.
This move signifies the growth and success that Cambridge has witnessed in recent years. It also enables the Senior Management Team to efficiently preside over operations on two consolidated floors. “We are excited to have this historic Toronto building as our new headquarters. The prestige this brings to our overall brand is a confirmation of the success that we have worked hard to build over the last 19 years,” said Bernard Heitner, CEO and Co-Founder of Cambridge Mercantile Group.
Developed by the Darling & Pearson Architects in 1908, the Union Building was solely owned by Canadian General Electric Company, for its headquarters. The grounds were once also occupied by the Toronto campus of Upper Canada College prior to its move to the current location at Avenue Road and Lonsdale.
