How long have you been at Cambridge and how long have you worked in this industry?

I’ve been working here in the London office for 2 years. Cambridge was my first job in the foreign exchange world.

What experience did you have before you joined Cambridge?

I have a degree in economics. When I joined Cambridge I started off in sales but I have since switched to compliance and I really enjoy my role here.

What is your role and how does this position support Cambridge’s mission, goals and success?

My role as compliance officer is to do the back checks of accounts, onboard clients and reviewing payments. I have to make sure the payments are right and going to the right place. I’d like to think of the compliance department as the police of Cambridge.

What is it like working at our London office?

The environment here is really fun and relaxed, but we are all focussed to work towards the same thing. I never feel pressured and everyone is always happy to help. I also love working with the people I do, everyone is so friendly and it feels like one big family!

How did you choose to join Cambridge?

I really liked the ethos of the company and how they treated their employees, Cambridge really looks out for you! Once I was involved I realised I had make the right decision.

What is the most exciting thing about working for Cambridge and what do you enjoy most about your job?

Nothing is ever the same at Cambridge and we are faced with new challenges every day, this makes it an exciting fast paced environment to work in.

What have you learnt at Cambridge?

As this is my first graduate job I’ve had to learn about the corporate world and how this is different from university and school. It’s important not to take anything for granted, as everything is a learning experience. I am learning new stuff every day about compliance and foreign exchange.

Can you describe the biggest challenges you face at Cambridge?

Sometimes I put myself under pressure, especially when we have big accounts that need opening and we have to approve this. I’ve also had to learn to adapt to different changes and regulations which can be quite challenging.

What is something people may not realise about your compliance role?

My role isn’t as simple as it seems and at times can be quite complex, on the surface I think it can seem quite easy but once you’ve delved in you start to understand the challenges we face.

What is something people may not realise about Cambridge?

How nice a place it is! Cambridge really gives everyone a chance.

What motivates you to work well and inspires you to succeed?

I am motivated to show my manager and peers that I am progressing and going forward in my career. I want to pay back people that have shown faith in me by working to the best of my ability and showing capability in my given responsibilities.

What are your aspirations and where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

I’d like to progress within the compliance department at Cambridge and eventually have a senior role in the department. In the near future, I want to gain some qualifications in compliance to have something tangible to show for my hard work.

What are your future hopes for you and Cambridge?

I hope Cambridge carries on going from strength to strength. It would be great if we expanded and had more offices across the U.K. and Europe. I want to carry on progressing in my career here and have the ability to visit different offices we have located around the globe.

What are your favourite things to do in your spare time?

I go to the Gym most days a week, and play Rugby on the weekends.

Can you share some words of wisdom for someone looking to get into the industry?

Remember that your first job may not be your job for life, don’t be disheartened if it doesn’t go the right way initially it will all work out eventually!

What is something people might not know about you?

I’m a bit of a geek, love comics!

Thank you Ayodele!
